Are Illegal Aliens
CRIMINALS?

By
Lin Stone

Recently a highway patrolman came upon the scene of a three car accident.  He gave chase to the one vehicle that was fleeing the scene and herded it to a stop.  While interrogating the occupants he asked a fatal question.. "Are you illegal aliens?"

They admitted they were and a judge subsequently let them go because the highway patrolman had "made them incriminate themselves."

Made them do what?
INCRIMINATE themselves.
In other words: in a court of law it was determined that simply by admitting they were illegal aliens they had INCRIMINATED themselves.

So many people admit they have an aversion to describing illegal aliens as criminals that before we dig into the subject we need to discuss terminology. I have good friends, wise friends, supposedly loyal to the United States friends who insist that we should look the other way when people want to steal into the United States. “After all, go back far enough and all of our forebears came here without papers.” For the sake of argument we'll leave my cousin Will Rogers out of this and address the problem straight on.

Before there were immigration laws enacted by the Federal Government there were millions of people come here, WANTING TO BECOME CITIZENS. After immigration laws were enacted by the Federal Government those people WANTING TO BECOME CITIZENS came through designated channels so they could become citizens, legally.

America has not become great because we had so many crooks and criminals running around loose, but because so many people here are basically good, law abiding citizens.  Even today our needs are not so great that now we must settle for criminals in our midst.

That shiny stainless surface may look like a clean, sterile surface to you, but to a microbe it's a landscape littered with mountains and valleys with plenty of dark corners to hide in. The bad news is that one little microbe can turn into four million microbes inside of just eight hours.  The plain fact is that YOUR KITCHEN needs your watchful eye to make it safe. Besides breaking our laws, and stealing our jobs, what else have they done to earn the right to live here in safety and peace while our sons and our daughters are being called up repeatedly to leave home and hearth to serve in the Armed Forces?

Make any issue important enough to capture public attention and there will be those who leap to take the other side just to raise a ruckus with technicalities and excuses that twist the issue out of all context.  “Oh, wait a minute,” say these people. “These are not criminals we are talking about, they are ONLY UNdocumented workers.”

To hear them tell it, in other words, what these illegal aliens have done and what they are doing isn't any worse than jaywalking. Okay,, let's walk down that street a little bit and see where illegal aliens fit in.

The first stop on our left is:
Jaywalking, It carries a $50 fine, a local magistrate will take care of this.
If you smile just right the judge may even let you off with just a stern warning and without a fine.

Next is:
Running a red light, again this can be handled by a local magistrate.
If you look a little worried the judge might let you off with only a small fine, less than $50 in most instances.

Breaking the speed limit, local magistrate.
If you look penitent the judge won't fine you very much over $100.

Driving while intoxicated, a local magistrate will take care of this and just from the way s/he is looking at you, you know you are in for a stern lecture.
In fact, the judge may want more than pocket change.

Reckless driving while intoxicated, this is getting serious but it is still a matter for a local magistrate . You will probably need a lawyer just to stay out of jail.

Causing a wreck while DUI, a local magistrate may take care of this but then again s/he may kick it upstairs for the big guys to take care of, just so you can get all that's coming to you.  Even if it stays on a local level you'd better hope the other guy can still walk and you can beg your way out of having a police investigation at the scene of the crime because the judge will be levying heavy fines.

Stealing someone's car and wrecking it, a state magistrate will automatically pick up your case.  You're not just looking at jail time, you're looking at time in prison.

Okay, we have whizzed past all the petty stuff.  Now we are into big time.  Stealing into the United States, is a Federal offense, If there were any justice left in the United States you would be facing a Federal Judge.

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States has committed a crime who has already or tries to:
Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
Attempts to enter
or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;
Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense. Six months in prison for a first offense is a mild sentence. If this is a second offense you could be looking at two years in prison and multiple fines.

Do you see now that this is a criminal offense? Do you understand why people breaking Federal laws are called criminals?

Therefore, the answer must be YES
With No IFs,
No ANDs -- no BUTs

These are not just undocumented workers
They are legally defined as criminals.

Our needs are not so desperate that we must quietly accept criminals into our midst.  Nor has America sunk to a piteous level so low that we must take anything thrown our way.  In fact, our country is so great that -- if there ever are legitimate needs for more workers here -- all we have to do is advertise the fact that now we are seeking honest, upright workers.  Immediately there will be people as far off as the other side of China who will leap into a row boat and risk sailing the seven seas just to get here. Every inch of the way the refrain "America, America, America" will pulse in the brain like the beat of a tom-tom.

There are those who will continue to argue that this Federal law designed to maintain some control on how many people cross our borders is unjust.  Because "these are just good people trying to better themselves" that it is okay for them to break this little Federal law.  They should not be condemned to suffer for breaking our law.

They could be right; after all, millions of people feel the same way about income tax and wish they had the nerve not to pay it. But if they ever get caught avoiding that levy they may well be serving time in a Federal penitentiary.

The word “criminal” is defined as people who break the law.  People who are labeled as criminals soon have an attitude. Since they are already breaking one law then breaking another one may well be the sensible thing to do.  That's why at a recent crackdown where over 1,000 illegal aliens were apprehended working at a single business EVERY ONE OF THEM had obtained FAKE identification.

That's 100% of those who broke that "little law" of invading our country that have gone on to break yet another law.

95% of them were not paying income tax.

90% of them were driving without a license.

87% of them were driving without insurance.

Do you get my drift?

Maybe some of them were young and sweet when they "accidentally" crossed over our border, but associating with known criminals fosters an attitude that breaking "minor" American laws is okay, and that's why associating with known criminals is actually a crime that can get you arrested while you are on parole.

No wonder then that many of them immediately start down a trail that makes a habit of breaking our laws!  If they haven't already done so, the very first thing they do, after crossing the line, is to steal identities -- or buy stolen identities.  Given a few months of practice at being criminals most of them start driving without driving licenses, and without insurance.  Every time you stare at your high priced insurance rates, remember that this is one of the major reasons those rates are soaring.

Right now 10% of the population in U.S. jails and prisons are illegal immigrants. Look at that another way and you will see that almost 30% of incarcerated Hispanics are here illegally. 95% of all outstanding warrants for homicide in Los Angeles involve illegal aliens.
One woman railed at me for thirty minutes because "you called my 'sweet' husband a criminal just because he is an illegal alien."

Keeping our conversation on a friendly basis (because all of us do have a right to our opinion) I asked a few questions and quickly discovered that in addition to being in this country illegally her “husband” has:

refused to marry her or claim their children as his own
has been here for five years THIS time,
has never paid one cent of income tax,
gets paid under the table by a local politician,
is living in subsidized housing,
from a prior stay here and a former "unmarried arrangement" he now has three handicapped kids in school,
he has had ten traffic tickets -- just in the last seven months -- for reckless and belligerent driving
and he has never paid a fine because he never went to court.
He has no driver's license
no auto insurance
and the last time he was stopped on the road for breaking the speed limit he brought out a tire iron and threatened the life of the patrolman that had stopped him.

I have a right to my opinion too. In my opinion this sweet “husband" is a criminal.

Even when all he had done was step over the line into this country illegally the Supreme Court of the United States defines him as a criminal. But like many other illegal aliens he did not stop there. He has made a habit of breaking our laws! Right now 10% of the population in U.S. jails and prisons are illegal immigrants. 30% of the incarcerated Hispanics are here illegally. 95% of all outstanding warrants for homicide in Los Angeles involve illegal aliens.

They aren't all that way!

No? On a national average one fatal traffic crash in five (That's TWENTY PER CENT!) involves a driver who is unlicensed or whose license is suspended, canceled, or revoked. Thanks to a Congress hoping to get more votes, the law does not reveal WHO is causing these crashes. However, States differ dramatically in their incidence of crashes involving unlicensed and invalidly licensed drivers. For example there is a mere 6.1% in Maine while there is a monstrous 23.4% in New Mexico.

Now let's see what we can deduce with these facts. Remembering that these are just FATALITY statistics and do not even begin to include other incidents like hit and run and drunken driving, answer this question honestly:

Can you think of any logical reason on earth why there are are four times as many irresponsible drivers in New Mexico as there are in Maine? If you are an obtuse member of Congress pressing for absolute amnesty you may have to mull this question over more slowly than the average intellect, but please consider how the trend of these statistics are weightily repeated in the states snuggled up the closest against our poor, ruptured border where so many of these illegal invaders defiantly cross with impudence.

Before passing on I'd like to mention one other attribute of criminals.. they don't rat on other criminals.  When an illegal alien sees his or her employer breaking the law they do not report that infraction.  If it is bad on them personally, they leave for some other place to work.  No wonder then that so many of them only work a day or two before moving on.  If we are going to halt the pollution of America eliminating a criminal workforce is the right place to start.

Let's put this in another light here.  Your daughter Mary brings this handsome young man home and says he is the right one for her.  You want to get to know this soon to be a relative so you sit him down for a polite talk.  "Tell me a little bit about yourself."

His chest fills with pride.  "I am not a criminal but I do break several Federal laws all day long and in order to get across the border I had to associate with some people running drugs.  They didn't charge me very much because they are nice people.  You'll like them too.  Oh, and three years from now I'll be taking Mary back home with me.  You'll have to write before you come to visit, get a passport because we are pretty strict with OUR laws down there, learn our language, and --."

To get to this guy's country you will probably pass into or through Mexico.  You will need these three items to enter Mexico:

  1. A Photo I.D. (such as a Driver's License or a passport, starting at age 18 and above)
  2. A Tourist Card or F.M.N.
  3. A Valid Proof Of Your Citizenship

• Tourist Card

This two part document is your "permission" from the Mexican government to visit Mexico . It is available free of charge, although sometimes difficult to obtain in large quantities. The airlines always have an ample supply upon check-in. Or, if all else fails, you can obtain one in Mexican Immigration upon arrival. Here are a few words of advice about tourist cards:

  1. Do not lose or deface the bottom portion returned to you after the immigration inspection. It must be returned to Mexican Immigration upon departure. TIP: Write down your tourist card number and keep it with your travel documents. If the card is lost, having the number will help greatly.
  2. Keep your tourist card and travel documents in a secure place. Do not carry them with you everywhere you go, unless traveling extensively from your point of arrival.
  3. You can ask to have your card validated for more time (up to 180 days) than you'll actually need.

Now if you are an illegal alien and you have decided to stop being a criminal it is easy enough to do.

Step #1, go back home.

“No, no. I need to stay here and make lots of money.”

My friend, your country has just as many resources as ours does. It isn't our fault that the only real difference between our country and yours is that most of our citizens are honest, law-abiding people. If you want to be a citizen of this country you are expected to be honest, law-abiding people too. The first step in that direction is to quit being a criminal, quit breaking the law. In other words, Go home.

Once you are at home you can apply for LEGAL entry into the United States.

Sure it's tough.  The reason it will be tough is there are twenty million criminals here taking the jobs that honest people could be holding.

But there is a shortcut.

When you get home, volunteer to join any of the Armed Forces of America for three years. You will be paid handsomely. You will be trained. You will be educated, and you can earn the right to become a citizen of the United States. That privilege is worth three years; it is worth thirty.

And when you think about it, why should this country protect the criminals in our midst while our sons and our daughters are repeatedly yanked our of our society and shipped out to defend our country while you think you are too good or too smart to do that?

When you do become an American citizen be prepared to exercise good faith and assimilate yourself into this body of law abiding citizens then you have the legal right to be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, but this is predicated upon you becoming in every facet an American -- and nothing but an American. Uphold our laws and stand ready to defend this country against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Those of us who love this country don't think that is too much to ask of anyone.

Should healthcare be completely privatized - or should a segment of it be left in public hands?
