I'm old now and I can't remember where I was headed when I did a left oblique and went chasing after strange gods but I soon learned that the Internet is a treasure trove of tailgated and unverified quotation rejoinders, and I intend to produce my own share of "copy and paste"  compilations.  Therefore I have not troubled myself much about chasing down the original sources of the quotes generously attributed to our most famous or popular minds.  I have no intention of producing subsequent works to find their less distinguished founts.

the more certain I become
that nobody never said nothing original and that everything interesting ever said was being repeated in common old barroom brawls 4,000 years ago. 

Someone else is bound to correctly identify which barroom it was and furnish the precise date of the confrontation.  I will be glad to republish the rebuttals if the style is sufficiently interesting or at least pithy.

As a poor man reported to the judge he stood before on the charge of rape.. "It was all a big misunderstanding, your honor.  And besides, that isn't the right woman no way."  I too feel I am innocent of any niggling misdemeanors.  Therefore, these mis-quotings may be requoted as-is or attributed to me if you use the inarguably reliable "copy and paste" system that leaves my byline below "in tacked" firmly in place.
