Mackinaw Island  is found at the northern tip of the lower peninsula.  Mackinaw City is where Interstate 75 makes the great leap of faith on a bridge across Lake Michigan to St. Ignace.  There you can catch Highway 2 for a long drive right up against the shore of Lake Michigan.   Mackinaw City is also just a ferry ride away from the Grand Hotel of Mackinaw Island. Michigan's Upper Peninsula "Welcome" is whispered by tall pines in the deep forests, conveyed in subtle sighs with the lapping of the waves, and shouted by the wind from mountaintop to mountaintop. Attractions include a lighthouse and former Coast Guard life-saving stations along with old farmsteads and former logging trails. The park is a four season recreational destination where hiking, camping, hunting, nature study, and winter activities abound. At its widest point the Lakeshore is only five miles and hugs the Superior shoreline for more than 40 miles. This was the first National Lakeshore and was authorized in 1966. 

Harbor Springs:  Located on Little Traverse Bay along the shores of Lake Michigan, Harbor Springs offers visitors recreational and cultural activities, including art fairs, boutique shopping, skiing, golfing, boating and outdoor concerts. From the quaint atmosphere of downtown Harbor Springs to unique accommodations and all that Northern Michigan has to offer, visitors enjoy the area as much as those who live here year-round.
The Harbor Springs area offers some of the most challenging ski slopes and the best championship golf courses in the Midwest, along with excellent schools, business opportunities, health care and community support services.

"Our guests can indulge themselves with stuffed pecan French toast with Michigan maple syrup or freshly baked cinnamon rolls as well as other breakfast items on the enclosed L-shaped veranda that overlooks the bay or in the formal dining room. The antique filled house is a great place to spend time but the quaint town of Harbor Springs also has plenty to offer visitors."
