| Every jot and every tittle had been
done. The scales of justice had
been balanced. The law had been
long last satisfied. Jesus gave
his life that mankind might all ransomed
be. It is finished, it is done. "Know ye not that I must be gone about my Father's business?" "It is Finished;" this work that no other man could do, and now swings open wide the gate so that the noble work with healing grace could be done. Stalwarts of the Lord's Kingdom went marching through. The author and signature of sin is pinked with the sword of righteousness; blinded by the shield of truth he gives up the keys as if they were too hot to hold. In the pits were many souls; His blood had been spilt also for them. Servants had been called. He charged them with their missions and dispatched them on their way. Moses bore the standard in the forefront while Aaron did post the side. Michael, the archangel and our Ancient of Days, called the cadence count. Elijah and Elisha struck the tuning gong. The servants marched forward with their feet matched in time to the throbbing beat. And aIsaiah, well acknowledged as the world's greatest poet, he who declared by prophecy that the Redeemer was anointed to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the bcaptives, and the opening of the cprison to them that were bound, were also there. ** "it is finished; it is done." The great work of Salvation is now begun. |
