The third method uses the wet felting method after you have knit or
crocheted alpaca yarn. This is called felted knit or crochet. You make your
knitted or crocheted item and then toss it in a washing machine with some
soap to felt the piece. This type of felting has become very popular lately.
So what can you create with these methods of felting alpaca fiber? As mentioned before, you can make just about anything. Using the wet felting method, you can create hats, scarfs, vests, dresses...whatever you want. You can even make some really amazing jewelry using this method of felting. The dry felting method allows you to make 3D projects. You can use alpaca fiber to create animals, dolls, flowers, etc. You can "paint" with the fiber on flat pieces of felt to make wall hangings by using shades of color just like you would on a canvas. Whatever you can knit or crochet with alpaca yarn can be felted in the washing machine. Purses, scarfs, and hats all make great projects. You can felt alpaca fiber for fun or you can sell your projects. Ebay is a great place to start selling your handmade items. Check locally for a small shop that may be interested in carrying your items. Show off your work to people. Word of mouth will spread if you create quality, unique items. Soon, a local following of buyers will be clamoring for your creations. The best thing about using alpaca fiber for felting is that you will create a fabulously soft, warm, lightweight, durable product. If you use alpaca fleece instead of sheeps' wool, you will have less "prickle factor". Most people that can't wear sheeps' wool, can wear alpaca. Try all three methods of felting alpaca fiber to find which one best suits your talents and desires. Felting is fun, inexpensive, and you can really unleash your creative juices. For relaxing, and possibly profitable, times, felt some fiber! |

Crafts do make wonderful gifts. Now I don't pretend that ANY crafty gift is precious. A star made from popsicle sticks glued together might bring yards of happiness when given from a four-year old, but look rather tacky if you are forty. The gifts you choose to make for others should spring from a craft you do exceedingly well. A good craft gift might be defined as anything you do with your hands that makes your heart sing while you are making it. When the one receiving the gift hears that singing and joins in then you will have given a gift which is priceless. Not all of us knows what a rabbet is, but all of us will have talents which give us an affinity to at least one of the crafty ideas inside this package. I invite you to check out the book marks and dig in. Don't be afraid to try any of these ideas. Each one was chosen for the author's skill in explaining the steps to take. You will probably be pleasantly surprised and how easily you acquire the skills needed for any craft idea that you like. There is a link in each craft article so that you can easily reach the author for similar material.
