Old Potter
and
New Potter

There is nothing new under the sun.

But there is still a New Potter and there is an Old Potter, and New Potter looks older than Old Potter.

And of course that means that Old Potter looks newer than New Potter.

But like the Scriptures say; there is nothing new under the sun.

Both Potter towns are about five or six miles away from Mena
and Old Potter is found tottering right on Highway 71 South,
like you were going to Texarkana. Old Potter is best known for
its antiques.  I love to stop in at Old Potter and gawk around.
The best antique shop there has a new sign up for old people like
me to read.  It says, "THIS AIN'T NO MUSEUM.
BUY SOMETHING."

I read the sign and buy an old sody pop.  Then I keep on looking
for as long as I can make the sody pop last.  Sometimes I stay
there so long that James shakes the pop can to see if it is empty yet.
If James ever begins to stock 7UP sody pops I will have to leave
sooner.

Here is one of the old roads leading to New Potter. To get to New Potter you can turn off of Hwy 71 and go north
at Old Potter.  There are road signs up to point the way.
Here
is one of the old roads to New Potter.  There are four old
roads leaving out of New Potter -- but everybody stays there
anyway if they possibly can.

Donna Summit lives just outside of New Potter.  She has lived
there all her life.  That's 51 years now.  Stuck way out in the
middle of nowhere, how does Donna make a living in New
Potter?  Donna is making her living off the old web.

Have you ever heard of ebay?  It has new auctions running
constantly online helping people to buy and sell just about
anything under the sun except live animals.  Donna makes her
living buying and selling something old on ebay.

Donna's old house in New Potter is almost a museum piece.

Donna has spent almost half her life making old things look as
good as new -- in New Potter.  She has antiques on the walls,
in the yard, and inside her home.  Donna uses them to decorate
her life, and they pay for her life style. Her new rock garden may
be older than dirt, but it provides a new window into the past.

Did I mention that Donna has an old style sense of humor?
