Arizona Super Site
| Instead of hiking 35 miles across the burning desert to see my closest friend I
now stay home and cruise the web looking for friends with competent empires. In the
course of sifting through thousands of web sites I have discovered the most helpful,
informative web sites about the different facets of Arizona. My
trails are left plain to see so YOU can plan
BETTER VACATIONS and have BETTER BUSINESS TRIPS. You save save time by
skipping what you DON'T see on this site until such time as you want to
look at everything and anything you might find in the search
engines. So, here we go. From top to bottom, these are
the pages you need to look at first.
I was born in Buckeye and grew up south of the Grand Canyon and north of Yuma. We moved 35 times before I graduated from the third grade and we traveled a lot in between jobs. The places we stayed were the underbelly of society. |
Daddy was a top-hand catskinner back then. We moved from place to place as he cleared land and dug ditches. One of my earliest memories was riding beside Daddy on an old D-8 Cat with a pulldozer on it as he dug ditches out. The water in the ditches came all the way down from Phoenix, past Gila Bend in a big dirt canal. Daddy contracted to clean it out from the canal to the ranch, 14 miles. Fish, turtles, and even eels came out with the mud and moss he dragged up on the bank. There were men that came behind us with pitchforks to harvest the biggest catfish. Some of those fish were as big as I was. |

| The good old days are long gone and best forgotten in most instances. When I was a kid I was the little one required to haul water and throw it on the burlap sacks hung over the windows so that a breeze might cool off the Euromericans inside. I had nothing but contempt for them. "If they are so hot in there why don't they come outside?" These days I won't even buy an old used Ford unless the air conditioning is working perfectly. | What goes around turns around. Back then even Yazz Beatin wanted to be a white man. We fought a time or two over who would get to be the Lone Ranger next. He ended up being one of the code talkers. Elee Sam, who would later be the laid back chief of the AhAutum'n, had to have on sunglasses to see the light of day even though we sometimes spent hours going from shop to shop to find him a new pair big enough to fit his head, and that was well before he got grown. What goes around turns around. |

| The STATE's own page.
This web site is done up right, with the links to all in line and a
row. The cities are all together, the counties separate, and the resources
easy to find. Now, if they will just send their webmaster over to modernize that horrible insurance
department web site!
Arizona Free maps, free travel planning kit. Maricopa County (the largest county in Arizona, and in the US) located in Arizona has 1,062 Public Schools and only has 154,000 students enrolled. Whether you're visiting Arizona State Parks for the first time or are an old friend, this information is for YOU! The Arizona Native Plant Society is a statewide nonprofit organization devoted to Arizona's native plants. The Heard Museum in Phoenix is a private museum founded in 1929 by Dwight B. and Maie Bartlett Heard to house their personal collection of native
artifacts. I came through here the first time in 1946. I have never
forgotten that experience. The closest thing I ever had to that experience
was the two weeks I spent in the desert with Ed Hunt. That man could spot
a tomahawk farther than I could see, and know if it was broken before I could
find it with him pointing it out to me from fifty feet behind. He showed
me how to find the pottery burial jars and in turn I showed him several new
places to find water he had not found already. |
