The oldest company I have found was
lost in 1880.
Years after he was gone, someone found an
old, tattered policy, and said: "I wonder if
anyone can track this company down?"
I started out just needing to find four
companies that had insured my dad
Then -- one company at a time, for tens of thousands of different individuals,
I have made it almost a personal vendetta and tracked down the changes in
life insurance company names and entities so that people in desperate straits

They paid off, IN FULL.
Old Security Life: Whereas most companies do just
change names or just change hands, this one seems to have been
run into the ground so far that it just quit. Those policies
that were paid up have been split up amongst TEN different
companies.
The first thing you want to do now
is: CALL the company.
If your company has been absorbed, merged or assimilated then it
is possible that the person answering the phone won't know what
you are talking about.

If you get brushed off, then it is
time to write a letter to the company.
