"My experience at PruDent was excellent," says Marlene Duncan of New
York. "When I arrived in Hungary I appreciated not only how
accommodating all of the staff were but also the effort taken to
ensure that I was comfortable and that all of my concerns were
addressed. Most importantly, I was extremely satisfied with the
dental work that I had done. Dr. Szeder was by far the most
meticulous and thorough dentist I've ever been treated by."
Frank Petersen, (47) lost all his upper teeth at the age of 44. He
had been a heavy smoker, going through 20-25 cigarettes every day.
This was ascribed as the main cause for the loss of his natural
teeth.
He did not dare to smile or go out in public with his friends any
more. A full removable denture replacement for him was not
satisfactory -- neither from an esthetics point of view, or with
regards to stability of his replacement teeth.
Frank came to PruDent and asked to have a new dental replacement
which would enable him to live a normal life, without the usual
risks of wearing a set of dentures.
Implants were suggested. However, it was determined that the bone in
the back of his mouth was so badly deteriorated that it could not be
relied upon to support the implants. PruDent offered a special
solution for him.
“We put the four implants into the front (teeth 14, 12, 22, 24) and
for the healing period of 5 months we underlined his old denture
inside, with a material that remains soft and enables him to wear
the denture without significant pain.”
Smoking is always a high risk factor with implants, so PruDent asked
him to give up smoking. Unfortunately, he was not able to give up
totally, but he has now reduced the number of cigarettes to 8-10 per
day. For 14 long days after the implant, Frank did not smok a single
cigarette!
“Five months later, after the healing period he came back for the
definitive replacement. It had to be a combined solution, due to
lack of bone. We made the denture on the implants and for the back
part we made a removable part that was attached to the implant
denture with slides. This way there was no need for the palate in
this denture and this could remain in his mouth all the time.”
Frank says that he liked this solution very much, as it was stable,
enabled him to eat properly and live a full life as well as the
esthetics of this solution was much higher than before.
The only problem was that he needed to learn to smile again, but of
course he was happy to do so.
