Metis (may'-tis) is a greek word meaning artifice, strategem, plan. In the homeric epics, The Iliad and The Odyssey, Odysseus (also called "Ulysses" in Latin translations) is the hero most commonly associated with metis. His most common epithet is polymetis, which is grossly translated as "man of many wiles" in lots of English versions. The most famous strategem (metis) is the Trojan Horse, by which the Greeks finally managed to conquer Troy. So what?
